Costa Rica Overland Adventure

While you may have been to Costa Rica, this is an opportunity to see parts of the country that tourists rarely venture into. You will have the opportunity to drive an outfitted new Land Cruiser on back roads and trails and get to experience some of the more remote small villages while enjoying luxury accommodations each night. Some of the highlights of this itinerary include beaches, jungle trails, hanging bridges, and even a night in a treehouse.

While we have arranged some special boutique luxury accommodations from beach resorts to jungle campesinos for the evenings, the days will be filled with the adventurous overlanding experiences you have come to expect from Four Points. We will navigate mud, rivers, and remote mountain roads that will provide great Overland training opportunities and the chance to put that training to the test in real-time situations.

You may already be familiar with Costa Rica but the safe, politically stable, and friendly vibe coupled with some truly remote back-country opportunities brought it to the top of our list for our international destination in 2025. It is a great way to combine an exotic warm weather vacation with some overland fun in an environment that is predictable and easily navigated culturally. We have lined up some great food and cultural stops along the way and I am excited to offer this to a special group as Four Points Adventures begins to venture beyond North America.

Description:

We spend most of the tour driving dirt roads through thick tropical forests, along beautiful coastlines, and up on ridges with jaw dropping views! The tour starts just outside of the capitol of San Jose, driving North to the Nicaraguan border where you'll spend the night in a tree house! The next day well drive to the La Fortuna Volcano area, and spend the night with a view of the volcano and the potential for hot springs, hikes, yoga and other activities.

We then head for the Western coast with it's beautiful beaches and tropical sunsets. We'll spend a full day relaxing at a resort where you can choose from a variety of activities from riding horses to jungle hikes and more.

We then head down the coast, catching a bit of beach driving along the way, to a quiet little resort with more amazing views.

The next day we drive our vehicles onto a ferry for the passage across to Puntarenas, and then back into the jungle for a truly awesome day of overlanding up a river. We finish that night at a lovely little compensinos lodge with some very cool (and kinda scary) hanging bridges over the most amazing tropical valleys and waterfalls

Our last day of driving adventure takes us up and over one of the highest passes in Costa Rica with amazing views from the top and then back down to the capitol of San Jose. Here you'll spend the night downtown in a luxurious hotel in the heart of the historic district and then you will fly home the next day.
